Surf, Adventure & Slow Living
A few months ago, QUIN Surf Residence welcomed Sally Cohen and Jade Darmawangsa to Nosara — two internationally recognised surfers and digital creators whose lives revolve around the ocean, movement, and conscious living.
Sally Cohen is a former World Surf League professional, known not only for her powerful style in the water but also for her resilience and comeback after a serious injury. Over the years, she has built a loyal global following by sharing an honest, grounded approach to surfing, recovery, and life in rhythm with nature.
Jade Darmawangsa is one of the most recognisable surf creators of her generation, with a massive presence on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Her content reaches millions worldwide — including viral moments filmed in Costa Rica, such as her widely shared video of a floating log mistaken for a crocodile, which instantly exploded across social platforms. Jade’s storytelling blends adventure, humour, and raw authenticity, making her a powerful voice in modern surf culture.

Their stay at QUIN captured Nosara at its very best.
Nearly every day began in the water. Early morning surf sessions at nearby Playa Guiones, chasing clean lines and long rides as the sun rose over the Pacific. Salty skin, sandy feet, boards under arms - followed by slow, barefoot returns to QUIN to reset before the day unfolded.
From there, the rhythm was natural and unforced:
training sessions at the gym, yoga classes, sound healing, recovery work, and body treatments — all woven seamlessly between high-energy adventures and deep rest.
Beyond surfing, Sally and Jade immersed themselves fully in the Nosara lifestyle:
- girls’ surf sessions and long ocean swims
- boat trips along the coastline
- waterfall hikes deep in the jungle
- ATV adventures through Guanacaste’s backroads
- movement, recovery, and strength training
- yoga, massage, and sound healing to restore body and mind

Throughout it all, QUIN was their home base. A place to recharge between adventures. Private spaces to slow down, open living areas to reconnect, and calm mornings that created space for presence. Not a retreat from life — but a setting that supports living it fully.
What defined their stay was balance: intensity paired with stillness, exploration paired with recovery, privacy paired with connection. Exactly the environment QUIN is designed to offer.
For Sally and Jade, QUIN was more than a place to stay. It was a space that matched how they move through the world — curious, active, grounded, and deeply connected to nature.
